Counseling regulation is at a turning point. As the profession grows, so does the variation across states and jurisdictions in licensure requirements, scope of practice, and pathways to independence. Though regulatory diversity is a strength that often allows for greater adaptability to a jurisdiction’s needs, these differences are increasingly cited in legal and legislative challenges to state licensing authority. The 2027 AASCB Annual Conference responds to this moment with resolve, not retreat.

This year, we're doubling down: on the data that shows where consistency matters most, on the collaboration needed to close the gaps between jurisdictions, and on the shared commitment to protect the public through sound regulation. Instead of merely naming the problems our profession faces, this conference is built to provide space for building collaborative solutions, through expert presentations, intentional discussions, and active engagement with colleagues facing many of the same challenges.

Whether you are new to your board or a seasoned regulator, this conference is an invitation to move forward together toward a profession that speaks with one voice, however many jurisdictions it serves.
